For my graduation project I worked together with Uitgeverij Wilde Haren. Besides the character redesign for the animated project, I would also modify the Rwandan graphic novel (GN) for the Dutch translation.

I was asked to research graphic novels that have recently come out  here in the Netherlands and to modify the original lay-out based on my findings.

ABOUT THE PROCESS

I first started with a thorough deep dive on graphic novels for children age 8 and up. I compared sizes, amount of pages, border thickness, gutter thickness, speech bubbles and typefaces that were used.

I then used all this information and applied it for the translated version.
