In 2022 I had a 5-month internship at Uitgeverij Wilde Haren.  One of my assignments was to create a completely new design for their fall, spring and complete collection catalogues.

ABOUT THE JOB

I was asked to research how other publishers of children’s books were designing their catalogues and to come up with a new design for theirs.

ABOUT THE PROCESS

The original catalogues were only comprised of their corporate colours, which made them seem too lifeless.

I looked at a lot of different children’s book catalogues and made a moodboard of things I liked. Afterwards I tried to find shapes that fit the company image. I also tried to make it more colourful by matching text box colours to the books and by adding elements from the book to the background. That way you would be fully immersed in the book on the spread.
